I contacted MacPaw customer service and not only did they create a solution for me, they did so immediately and with a personal touch – both friendly and professional every step of the way. MacPaw’s Customer Support have been quick to respond and they have been very helpful but they have been unable to provide a fix for this problem. The problem occurred after updating the OS to the latest version.

Just scan, select the files you don’t need anymore, and

Remove. Just be aware, the deleted file will be gone, it does not get moved to

Trash. A cool tool that allows to quickly find largest files and

folders. Use it when you need more space on the disk. But what if I need that attachment later?

Verizon, on the other hand, was and remains the worst example (I eventually switched to Comcast). For instance, on one of my Macs, I found 13 leftovers (files

from deleted apps), on another eleven. It’s because I often install various

apps to play with and then remove them. I saw a question on multiple forums, why they see helper

install request all the time. If you have the same issue, you can fix it by

selecting the Authenticate option in the CleanMyMac top bar menu under Action

item. When you clean System Junk for the first time, CleanMyMac will pop up a message that it needs to install a helper tool.

Open the folder from Sidebar, find the app and double click to start. I inadvertently took out two subscriptions and have been trying to contact support by email to assist me. They keep apologising for not getting back to me, but nothing further. They suggest the best way is the ring, however I am in Australia so that’s not easy.

Applications on Mac or any other computer store often needed information on the disk. For instance, if there is an image or font that is constantly being used on multiple web sites, the browser saves it on the disk. I got a very quick response from the team and I appreciated their help. Customer service for the product clean my Mac was excellent.

For instance, the uninstalling part can be done with the free AppCleaner app. I can delete cache myself, it will take me some time, but I can do it. For someone who has been using Windows for decades before switching to Mac, the idea of sending the app to the Trash as an uninstall process does not feel safe and complete. When you delete the app on Mac, only the original folder in Applications gets deleted.

Another group that won’t get value from the purchase are

people who just recently bought their Macs. And the main thing – I know which files are safe to delete and which are not. I can also find the large files myself. I know how to run sudo purge from the Terminal. I know how to find old Wi-Fi passwords in the system and remove them.

For instance, Photo Junk

and iTunes Junk are not available under Catalina. You can delete Language Files if you are not running any

apps with a foreign language UI, i.e., if you are bilingual and you have apps

with English and Spanish texts, then keep those languages. By far, the largest group of files here is User Cache Files. It includes cache from applications such as browsers, games, Office, etc.

Great product – Great Support

Very quick response to handle and fix an issue with my CleanMyMac subscription. Fast, efficient and accurate support from Bassam when I needed to activate Clean My Mac on a new Mac and one that had been wiped to replace the battery. And they followed up in a timely manner.

Hopefully, this day will never come but if you need to cancel your subscription for CleanMyMac X, just click Cancel Subscription on the Subscription Manager page. In this case, CleanMyMac X continues providing all of its features and updates till the end of the current subscription period (the one you’ve already paid for). Just click Reset Activations in the Device Management block and be free to use your subscription license on another Mac. Note that you can reset your license activation right in the CleanMyMac application.

If your Mac is slow to start after shutdown or restart, then

it may be because you have too many applications set to run at login time. To

decrease the startup time, disable apps that you don’t need right away. For

instance, I need my DropBox to start asap, but all others I disabled. Basically, it’s common practice with Mac applications that need access to system files. This architecture avoids giving CleanMyMac admin privileges and assigns them to a little helper.

The support organization has always been very responsive to any issue. This is a first class organization with a great product. Timely customer service is a rare commodity these days. These guys exceeded all expectations. The customer service reps at MacPaw were persistent in helping me with my problem.

There were peeps that assisted on my case but for privacy i wont mention names. They assisted me, gave me “how to” examples of what they needed out of me and turns out it was a buggy Mac App Store issue. Then I used the program for two weeks to make sure that I see any problems people reporting while using the app. I didn’t want to be like other reviewers, who just installed the software, played for an hour, made a YouTube video, and forget about it. I explained the reasons for return, and within 3 hours I received the confirmation that they processed the refund and within 6 hours I’ve got my money back in my account. While CleanMyMac is packed with features, many of them can be done manually if you know how to.

In my opinion, any great company starts with great customer service. For instance, Apple’s customer service is top-notch. I always had the best experience every time I called.

If, however, you

are a DIY person, then it’s not worth it for you. With all junk getting accumulated on your Mac over the

years, periodic cleaning gives a performance boost. If your Mac is so old that

it has HDD instead of SSD, the performance boost would be even more noticeable.

Is Cleanmymac X Worth The Money

MacPaw has an excellent explanation why does it need an additional helper tool and why it asks your admin password. Good programs Chat PG maintain their cache, and periodically purge the old unused cache files. However, not all applications created equal.

I am thoroughly impressed with the response I received from MacPaw. They were thorough and it was apparent to me that they cared about me. Getting that kind of response from a major corporation in this day and age is almost unheard of.

If I had a lot

of disk space, then I wouldn’t run this at all. If the cache file gets deleted, the application will

redownload and store it again. There may be a little performance hit when the

files get downloaded for the first time, but the next time it will be ready to

be read from the cache. I Had a problem with a “risk ware” which my version of “CleanMyMac X”. I followed his/her advise and this time the threat was removed.

Took a yearly subscription without any notification. Then they told me that they had refunded, and I had to keep sending proof that the PayPal payment had not been refunded. Exceptional Customer Support Service.

Well, the

attachment gets deleted from the disk, but not from the mail server. If you

select the message in the Mail app, the attachment will be redownloaded to the

local storage. I found it easier to grant Full Disk Access first and then use it (see System Junk). The team was very responsive and they have provided a solution that addressed my problem. The constant follow up if my concern has been added was also very helpful.

Contact Support

Every time I have contacted customer service they have replied with in 24 hrs with the fix for my Mac. Plus they always follow up make sure things are ok great customer service. Almost impossible to cancel a subscription. The website and support is purposely set up so a customer is unable to stop the auto renewal of the subscription.

And I have no idea what Free Up Purgeable Space means. Again, the menu for the Maintenance option is different for

Mojave and Catalina versions. It is doable from Mac Settings, but it’s a pain in a neck because you have to delete each network one by one.

There is a reason why all computers have Trash or Recycle

bins. I don’t remember how many times I removed a file, and I needed it again

the next day. So be cautious and review what you are deleting.

I wouldn’t, simply because I don’t have reliable statistics on Malware Removal’s effectiveness. Malware Removal option is new in CleanMyMac, and other antivirus solutions have decades of experience in this field. It depends on how much space do you have. If you low on

storage, then empty trash every month or so. Run Scan and then click on Review Details.

The customer service is awesome, fast responses and individual, so fully understood the issue and gave me the answers to my problem quickly! I thank you and would highly recommend this app to Mac users. I have a lifetime licence, but I bought a new MacBook and downloaded the CleanMyMac X from the App store, which would not activate however I tried. I contacted the support team, and it was as simple as downloading direct for them rather than the Apple App store.

Companies that hide the way you cancel their subscription as hard as possible and purposely design their cancellation UX to just not let you normally cancel are such a cancer in today’s world. What is wrong with the people that actually macpaw customer service approve designs, etc., like this? Even though the app can be useful and the services they provide are not at all bad, the cancellation and pricing are just a pure form of modern robbery. I had a billing issue that was totally my fault.

I am very pleased with the software

So, run this when the Mac startup is slow or

when annoyed with “please update” notifications. Similar to Login Items, there are annoying background

applications that I’d like to go away. Finally, I was able to disable the

JavaUpdater. Every time Java pops up, I think whether it’s a virus or a legit

Java pop-up. This section contains Hung Applications and Heavy Consumers items. If they appear disabled on your screen, it’s because you have none at the moment.

It contains a list of apps that can be

upgraded along with the descriptions of changes in the new versions. In the Unused section, I found the apps that I installed and

forgot. If you search on forums, you will quickly understand that

this is a very controversial topic. Some people adamantly oppose RAM flush, but

there are people who do it all the time. Login Items and Launch Agents do not change quite often,

only when you install new apps.

I would strongly suggest you not purchase from this company with such a predatory corporate policy. Trouble with the “Helper Tool” installation. Contacted support IT services, received the Helper Tool as an installation.

They are always concerned when users report an issue and are very good about getting back to you either via email or chat. They want to make sure that you have a great experience. So, I decided to return CleanMyMac X and see how long will it take them to issue the refund. By the way, you can transfer the license from one Mac to

another. The process is very straightforward and described on their site in

great detail.

If you have a CleanMyMac app, I’d suggest you stop deleting

apps and use CMM to uninstall them. So, for me, just this Uninstaller option is well worth the

money I spent. Let’s assume you work with Final Cut and do video editing. Very quickly, you’ll find out that the memory maxed out. In this case, your

options are restart or run sudo purge command in the Terminal. If you want to know more about selecting antimalware products, check my post here.

The same approach applies to System Log Files. System Log Files can be useful when you have suspicions that someone is accessing your Mac without you knowing. So, I suggest using this function in CleanMyMac 2-3 times a

year. Doing it every day does not make any sense. It’s the very first button, just like Start in Windows.

If you’ve been using your Mac for several years, it is

possible that your computer accumulated files that do not need to be on the
